At the eastern end of the land is a triangle shaped area where we have planted the orchard.
We started planting the fruit trees quite early on and have a mixture of old apple trees from Herefordshire/Gloucestershire which is where my family come from. A lot of the trees are on M26 rooting stock so they remain at a height that makes picking the fruit easy.
Most of the trees have been sourced in the UK.
The apple and pear trees are pruned in the winter and the plums in the summer We normally have a great crop but in 2017 we had a hard frost in April after a warm spell and a lot of the fruit was lost.
